California Smarter Balanced Test Results: 2025

The California Department of Education (CDE) released test score results from the 2025 Smarter Balanced assessments of math and English language arts on Oct. 10th for tests taken by students in the spring of 2025. Read EdSource's coverage of the results. The tests, administered in grades 3-8 and 11, form part of the state's California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, or CAASPP. Student scores are categorized in four achievement levels that indicate how far above or below the state standards students are scoring. In 2025, the state board of education changed the labels for these levels to: minimal, developing, proficient, and advanced.

Search for a school district to see all the schools within that district. Click on the name of the school, district or county office of education to get its detailed test results, including charts showing change over the past five years and achievement gaps among racial and ethnic student groups. Note: charter schools are listed individually. Aggregate scores for Charter Management Organizations are not available.
